INDIAN BEACH HOUSE

The Indian Beach House in Sarasota, Florida, was designed in direct response to the challenges of its coastal setting. Located along the shoreline, the residence needed to address a tropical climate marked by high humidity, heavy rainfall, intense sun, and the threat of storms. These environmental factors influenced both the layout and material choices, ensuring a home that is resilient, sustainable, and comfortable year-round.

A key consideration in the design was the risk of flooding, common in the surrounding neighborhood. The design team studied base flood elevations and historical data to determine optimal site placement, elevation height, and drainage strategies. As a result, the home sits safely above flood-prone zones, with integrated site solutions that manage stormwater effectively.
